Understanding Prophetic Times: Finding Salvation in Crisis and Chaos

The times we are living in today are prophetic times, and as such, in order to understand them, it is necessary that we take into account what the Holy Scriptures express about them.

It is not about establishing with this statement that things have to happen just because it is written that it has to happen, to act in this way would be to fall into irresponsibility before God himself, because, if we review the parable of the talents (Matthew 25:14-30), the servant who received a talent acted in the same way: he was afraid and fell into inaction, even when he had the option of giving the money to the bankers.

That the present times are prophetic times, and that crises and chaos is an inherent characteristic of them, yes, that is so, and with this what we have to understand is, that, although things are prophesied, and irremissibly have to happen as prophesied, we do not thereby establish that we are walking towards misfortune without any alternative; In God there is always an additional solution, a saving solution to the situation, this is precisely the message of the cross, prophesied since the time of the departure from Egypt, when Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert, for the healing of those who had been bitten by the fiery serpents (Numbers 21:8); about it Jesus taught: as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up; that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. (John 3:14-15)

Everything is prophesied, but the prophetic does not necessarily have to mean pain and suffering, crisis and chaos; for those who walk in faith in Jesus, the crisis and chaos is only the opportunity to see God saving those who trust in Him. In God there is an alternative of change, this provision was established from the moment when in Egypt came thick darkness that enveloped the land for three days, the story confirms that all the children of Israel had light in their rooms, while in the houses of the Egyptians, because of the darkness no one saw his companion for three days. (Exodus 10:21-23).

Everything is prophesied, but, as we established in the first paragraphs, in order to reach life options from God, it is necessary that we take into account what the Holy Scriptures express about it.

To begin to understand about God’s salvation in the midst of the critical situations we face day after day, it is imperative that we understand and accept that in order for God to save the one who has fallen into the current of the crisis, he or she must first decide under which laws and under which government he or she wants to live. It is the condition of change, the opportunity that the one who has fallen in disgrace has to free himself from it, can only come in the definition of the resource from where he wants the change to come; the solution does not allow the combination of resources; regarding this, the apostle Paul wrote to the community of Faith of Corinth, and questioned them about how it is possible that we have the tendency to want to live by Faith in Jesus, and want to alienate him at the same time with arrangements with darkness: what company have you with righteousness and unrighteousness? And what communion hath light with darkness? and what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath the faithful with the unfaithful? and what concert hath the temple of God with idols? (2 Corinthians 6:14-16)

The first step towards God’s saving action consists in deciding under which kingdom of life we want to live: under the kingdom of this world that follows the prescriptions of the kingdom of darkness, or under the Kingdom of Heaven that follows the instructions of the Spirit of God. Jesus had already taught it before when he refuted his detractors who asked him if it was lawful to give tribute to Caesar, Jesus stated: Pay to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s (Matthew 22:21). What is established in prophecy cannot be altered, but for those who live under the government and laws of the Kingdom of Heaven, the crises and chaos established in the prophetic can be transformed into blessing.

It all depends under which kingdom, and under which laws you want to walk; if you decide to walk under the laws of this world, the prophetic will reach you, and you will not escape; if you decide to walk under the Laws of the Kingdom of Heaven, the prophetic will only be a testimony of what the Psalmist David’s statement means: But the salvation of the righteous is of the Lord, and He is their strength in the time of trouble. (Psalms 37:39)

Crises multiply, in many cases, because those who want to get rid of them want to make use of human resources as well as Heaven’s resources: No one can serve two masters (Matthew 6:24). This is what it means to live life in the Faith of the Son of God:

I have been crucified with Christ and live, no longer I, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. Galatians 2:20

Day after day I see the pain and suffering of many people, and the helplessness in them for not being able to change their own realities; I see the pain and suffering because of scarcity, for not being able to bring a plate of food to the table, for not having clothes to cover them, for not having a roof to shelter them; I see the pain because of persecution and death, because of war; I see the pain because of sickness, because of being bedridden until they die because they have no cure for it; I see the helplessness of many who want to, and do not know how to get out of that situation.

There is an even more serious evil, however, and I see it constantly in all parts of the world, in both rich and poor countries, because the prophetic reaches us all, and that is the ignorance of many to see Jesus only as a religious and moral symbol; many cannot understand God’s provision of salvation: Having from God, in Jesus, the answer to our ills, and the salvation to our crises, so many sink each day deeper into the chaos of our times, just because in their decisions they took the alternative of walking under the government and under the laws of this world.

I have wanted to write these words, and publish them, trusting in the Mercy of God, that if anyone is suffering social, economic, political and/or moral crisis, by reading it, may find a guide to reach the Salvation of God: Decide under which government and under which laws you want to walk in your existence on earth; if under the Government and the Laws of the Kingdom of Heaven, He who gave you life will set your foot on rock, and will make you stand firm when the winds blow over you, and when the rivers rush with force against your house.

God bless you.
