You are the Light of the world…

Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

Matthew 5:14

<p class="has-drop-cap" value="<amp-fit-text layout="fixed-height" min-font-size="6" max-font-size="72" height="80">Light is not a quality proper to the existence of this material world, we know it perfectly because we use its properties; however, Light is a spiritual quality that was introduced into this material world as an appendix of life when in Creation Jehovah- God 'spoke' so that it would be established as a natural element of this material creation.Light is not a quality proper to the existence of this material world, we know it perfectly because we use its properties; however, Light is a spiritual quality that was introduced into this material world as an appendix of life when in Creation Jehovah- God ‘spoke’ so that it would be established as a natural element of this material creation.

This is understandable when we verify that, indeed, the Light was introduced on the first day of Creation, while the great luminaries, those that feed the firmament with light, were created until the fourth day,

3And God said, Let there be light: and there was light …  And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

Genesis 1:3-5

16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. 17 And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, 18 and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good. 19 And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

Genesis 1:16-19

So, the Light referred to in the creation story of the first day was not a product of something emanating from it, that is, it was not a light created for the benefit of this material system, but Light entered from the environment of Eternity to delimit by it a space within which the Almighty would establish His field of action and Creation; the above has Truth and meaning from the use of the Word that Jehovah- God uses to ‘open’ that space of Eternity for the entry of Light, He says: יְהִ֣י (yehí: be), and the term used here is the same as Jehovah-God uses to reveal Himself to Moses as I am that I am (אֶֽהְיֶ֖ה: eh-yeh); so then, יְהִ֣י (yehí: let there be) and (אֶֽהְיֶ֖ה: eh-yeh: I am), from the Hebrew root היה ( ha-ya: to be), is a term that denotes ‘Eternity’ whose true meaning is, in the case of the name of Jehovah-God, I was-I am-I will be.[1] Light is the essence of Eternity where Jehovah- God moves, therefore it is the very manifestation of His Glory.

So, when Jehovah-God said, let there be light (וַיֹּ֥אמֶר אֱלֹהִ֖ים יְהִ֣י א֑וֹר), He was with it, additionally, establishing ‘Eternity’ within Creation, and space also for angelic beings to cohabit within all of creation; Light is the very substance of the essence of spiritual life. Spiritual and angelic beings emanate Light, it is their natural state; the psalmist David recognizes the essence of Light that comes from Jehovah- God,

For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light.

Psalm 36:9

In the story of Job we find the testimony that everything that belongs to Eternity, its environment is Light,

2Dominion and fear are with him, he maketh peace in his high places. 3Is there any number of his armies? and upon whom doth not his light arise?

Job 25:2-3

We can now understand what it means that Jehovah-God imprisoned in chains of darkness the angels who had sinned, simply deprived them of the strength of His Presence and exposed them to material creation.

For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;

2 Peter 2:4

Light was established on this world as the basis of existence of all forms of life that were created. The natural light of the great luminaries of the fourth day was not introduced as a substitute for the Light of Eternity established on the first day, the natural light of the great luminaries was established only to mark cycles of life,

And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:

Genesis 1:14

So, the Light of the first day is still in force, and remains active, only very few can see it, for the eyes of men are forbidden to see it. The apostle John writes in his gospel and gives testimony of His Presence among us, John defines it as the Principle of restoration and vivification of those who ‘hear’ the Voice of the Lord,

And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not (has not overcome it: NIV).

John 1:5

The account speaks of the Presence of Jesus on earth, without discussion; however, the account also contains the testimony that in Adam, men despised that environment of Light in which Jehovah-God had placed them, and loved more the proposal of darkness, in deterioration of the Word of the Lord.

And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

John 3:19

Thus, when Jesus said, “you are the Light of the world”, in principle, His statement was a re-creation of the process of Creation initiated when Light was brought in as the platform of all that was created; now, His statement was to “establish” the doctrinal teaching that in this new age of Revelation, Light would be brought by and through those who walk in the environment of light, i.e., those who walk according to the faith of Jesus,

Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.

John 12:35

or as an hidden untimely birth I had not been; as infants which never saw light.

Job 3:16

Giving life is synonymous with ‘putting people free’.[3]  Giving life is a consequence of walking by the faith of Jesus, not a commission; this means that no one has to ‘strive’ to do, to say, to carry; there is not even a need to rebuke the spiritual hosts, the very presence of one who walks by the faith of Jesus establishes life and establishes liberation. Were not the sick healed when the shadow of the apostle Peter touched them?[4] Were not the sick and possessed at a distance healed when the apostle Paul prayed for cloths and shrouds that belonged to those in bed?[5]

During the violent incident that formed in Thessalonica because of the teachings of the Apostle Paul, there was a word that the main inhabitants of the city wanted to establish as an argument to attack the Apostle, the word was: These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also;[6] however, if the reader reviews carefully the reading of the fact, he will see that it was not a great company, they were scarcely 3 or 4 men; in chapter 16 Timothy,[7] Silas[8] is mentioned, and if Luke accompanied them, they were in total together with Paul four people, however, the inhabitants of Thessalonica expressed themselves as: These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also, as if it were a great company that had come to trouble the city. What do you think? The above only confirms what Moses had established about those who walk in the light of the teachings,

29 O that they were wise, that they understood this, that they would consider their latter end! 30 How should one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, except their Rock had sold them, and the Lord had shut them up? 31 For their rock is not as our Rock, even our enemies themselves being judges.

Deuteronomio 32:29-31

To walk according to the faith of Jesus does not consist of ‘adopting’ a lifestyle, but of being a link from Heaven on earth so that through the Revelation we receive as an Inheritance of Glory,[9] we can initiate a generation of the living –God is not God of the dead, but of the living– through our words: the Light was introduced by the Word, the Light responds to the Word.

A clear example is this time of pandemic we have lived. God closed churches, however many did not understand it that way, but they moved their services to the social pages and turned them into virtual services, is that what God wanted? Was that what God demanded that they do? No, nothing like that, but not understanding how Jehovah-God is moving in these times prevents us from moving the way He does, is this walking according to the faith of Jesus?

Not understanding the ways of the Lord has led many to engage in even apostasy, and not realize it.

To be the Light of the world is to react and respond immediately to the Word of Jesus given to His Church, the Spirit is moving not through the concepts of tradition according to which we have acted, the Spirit is “speaking” and giving instructions for us to act in unconventional ways, to establish the Kingdom not by preaching but by executions of faith; Jesus presented it in this way: A city set on a hill cannot be hidden, which means a commitment to live by the principles of Jesus’ teachings, even knowing that to live by them it may die. That is the commitment of the life of faith in Jesus.

You are the Light of the world is the greatest teaching that Jesus could have given to His saints; but it is wise that we should understand what it means, for if we do not, ignorance, naivety, and unawareness expose us to being trampled upon and taken hostage by darkness.

A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden, it discovers a commitment to the Word, to the Gospel, and to Jesus to live by faith in His name, and according to His teachings; but beware, the expression is also a warning that the light on the mountain exposes the city to those who seek to steal and do evil.

Never teach others what you have not established for your own life.

When did Jesus get born?

Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, 2 saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him. Matthew 2:1-2

This December 24 and 25, the Christian church faces its greatest challenge of faith: Should I celebrate Christmas? Is it permissible for us to be involved in the dynamics of gifts, Christmas dinners, and Christmas services?

The situation is complicated, because it is not only a religious custom that was conventionally chosen as the date to celebrate the birth of Jesus.

It is a custom that was born within the pagan religiosity of the Roman Empire, and that for strategic convenience, government and territorial hegemony, the Roman Catholic Church adopted as an approved date for the celebration of the birth of Jesus.

Why was the date of December 25th chosen? A fairly widespread explanation is that Christians chose the day because, since the year 274, December 25 was celebrated in Rome as the dies natalis Solis invicti, the day of the birth of the undefeated Sun, the victory of light over the longest night of the year. This explanation is based on the fact that the Christmas liturgy and the Fathers of the time establish a parallel between the birth of Jesus Christ and biblical expressions such as “sun of justice” (Matthew 4:2) and “light of the world” (John 1:4 ff.). However, there is no proof that this was the case and it seems difficult to imagine that the Christians of that time wanted to adapt pagan feasts to the liturgical calendar, especially when they had just experienced persecution. It is possible, however, that in the course of time the Christian feast was assimilated to the pagan feast.[1]

Accepting this date, and the celebration of what was based on a pagan, idolatrous custom, contaminates us and makes us vulnerable to the forces of darkness that seek to position themselves over entire regions.

The Bible warns us that accepting a pagan custom such as Christmas makes us allies of darkness and separates us from communion with God,

10 If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: 11 for he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds. 2nd. John 10-11

To accept Christmas and celebrate it as a religious holiday accepted by the Scriptures is to accept an apostate doctrine. It is a doctrine that numbs the discernment, that dissipates the senses, and that subjects us to the demonic hosts that operate in the heavenly regions.

It is a doctrinal conflict that disrupts the holiness of the call and faith in Jesus, and is not resolved by giving a light answer, that it does not matter the date, that what counts is the celebration of the birth of the Savior of the world; a celebration on a date that does not correspond means “moving” the cycles of Revelation, and consequently, opening spiritual doors through which darkness has access.

When was Jesus really born? Is it possible to know? What is the use of determining that?

Yes, it is possible to determine. The Bible presents us with a way to do it. Determining the date serves to denounce the evil of a pagan date that establishes spiritual rule over entire regions, and is the cause of the deterioration of many of our faith communities.

Jesus was born on the day of Yom Kippur, the 10th day of the seventh month in the Hebrew calendar, in a Jubilee year.

In general terms, this day is presented in the Scriptures as the day of atonement. We know it more as the day of remission of sin. The day when the High Priest entered the Most Holy Place and offered sacrifice for the sins of the entire nation.

And ye shall do no work in that same day: for it is a day of atonement, to make an atonement for you before the Lord your God. Leviticus 23:28

However, the one-year day of atonement corresponding to a Jubilee year had even greater spiritual value:

Then shalt thou cause the trumpet of the jubilee to sound on the tenth day of the seventh month, in the day of atonement shall ye make the trumpet sound throughout all your land. Leviticus 25:9

The Jubilee year was a holy year, and the Day of Atonement had a unique spiritual value, repeated only every fifty years. It meant a day of forgiveness for sins. It was a day for proclaiming freedom to all its inhabitants. A day to recover pawned possessions. A day to regain freedom for those who had fallen into slavery. Day of remission of debts. Day of readjustment of prices. In general terms, the day of atonement for a Jubilee year meant a day to close cycles of disgrace.

If we compare all this meaning with the statement of the prophet Isaiah quoted by Jesus on the day He practically began His Messianic ministry, we will see that much of what the prophet pointed out prophetically is a summary of the meaning of the day of atonement,

The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; 2 to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; 3 to appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified. Isaiah 61:1-3 (Luke 4:17-19)

If we look at the text of the Prophet Isaiah, the acceptable year of the Lord it is precisely the year of Jubilee, for it is the year in which the reason why God brought them out of Egypt becomes clear,

I am the Lord your God, which brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, that ye should not be their bondmen; and I have broken the bands of your yoke, and made you go upright. Leviticus 26:13

On that day, at the beginning of the day, that is, at sunset, the decree was issued that everyone would recover what had been lost: the slave would regain his freedom, the debtor would be forgiven his debt, and those who had given up their property because of poverty would get it back.

And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubilee unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family. Leviticus 25:10

Comparing this last text with the purpose of Jesus’ coming to earth, we notice that the establishment of the purpose of the day of atonement is the same purpose of Jesus’ presence on earth; the parallelism leads us to understand that Jesus’ birth took place precisely on the night that was proclaimed that every man return unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family,

For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost. Matthew 18:11; Luke 19:10

All in Jesus return to the condition of Grace under which God constituted them as God’s image and likeness.

The Bible presents the following facts as evidence that the night of Jesus’ birth corresponded to the day of atonement,

And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David) Luke 2:4

Compare this with the provisions of the Law on the recovery of estates,

And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubilee unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family. Leviticus 25:10

Jesus is born in Bethlehem. Joseph and Mary travel a great distance, from Nazareth of Galilee in the north to Bethlehem in the south, not so much because they are complying with the census edict of Augustus Caesar, but because spiritually they are obeying and fulfilling the stipulations of the Word of God, to return to their possession, and to their family.

The birth of Jesus in Bethlehem that night also fulfills the proclamation of freedom that the Law required for the Day of Atonement,

And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubilee unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family. Leviticus 25:10

That night the proclamation of freedom was declared in a very singular way, by the presence of the Angel of the Lord together with a heavenly choir proclaiming the coming of the lamb that takes away the sin of the world. Let us compare the events described in the gospel.

8 And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9 And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. 10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. Luke 2:8-11

The proclamation that the choir of angels established that night is similar to that set forth in the Law of Moses,

13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, 14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. Luke 2:13-14

Shepherds and angels in a great manifestation of Glory and Power establish the proclamation of freedom, announcing the beginning of the Lord’s pleasant year, the acceptable time to come before Him and take stock.

6 but Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end. 7 Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, Today if ye will hear his voice, 8 harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness: Hebrews 3:6-8

The apostle John, describing the magnitude of the greatness of this fact, wrote

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. John 1:14

And later, he adds:

16 And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace. 17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. John 1:16-17

Jesus born on the day of atonement, it was the day when the nation took from His fullness, and by the Grace of God sins were atoned for. Jesus testified that all these facts were written in the Old Testament,

And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me. Luke 24:44

Jesus was born on the tenth day of the seventh month of a year dedicated as a jubilee year. A day dedicated to exalting the greatness of an Almighty God who cares for his people and removes everything that threatens their integrity.

Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these statutes, and say, Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people. Deuteronomy 4:6

A people chosen and called to establish the Kingdom of God through the places to which they were sent,

And it came to pass, when all the kings of the Amorites, which were on the side of Jordan westward, and all the kings of the Canaanites, which were by the sea, heard that the Lord had dried up the waters of Jordan from before the children of Israel, until we were passed over, that their heart melted, neither was there spirit in them anymore, because of the children of Israel. Joshua 5:1

This is the faith challenge facing the church that confesses His name.

We cannot expect God to give us revelation if we are not first willing to let go, to abandon, to denounce, idolatry and institutional religious paganism.

Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. 2nd. Corinthians 7:1

It is necessary to cleanse our faith, our beliefs, our proclamation in Christ from filth. The Spirit urges us to live by what the Word of God has established as the wisdom of our strength.

What are we to do? The time of definition has come.

Submit to pagan, idolatrous customs, clinging to them and seeking ways to make them holy, when they are not; or suffer for the sake of the Name, and live according to the purity of the Word?

every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. 1st. Corinthians 3:13

The evil of the date of December 24th and 25th is revealed. The apostasy into which many Christian congregations and churches have entered is exposed. It is denounced the folly and vanity of many pastors who preach, teach and proclaim what God did not say, nor send them to preach, nor to establish.

But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine: Titus 2:1

How to Reconcile the Cursed Regions with God?

And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; Genesis 3:17

The curse entered the world because of the rebellion that Adam and Eve initiated against the life process that Jehovah-God had established in Eden.

Although in the text of Genesis 3:17 it appears as a divine action, that is, God cursing the earth, the curse is actually the consequence of the agitation in Creation caused by the rupture of divine instruction.

Adam and Eve’s opposition to continuing the instruction that God had established as the order of life caused the earth not to be able to properly execute the power of the Word, And God saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good, a word with which Creation had been certified as the place of well-being for man.

The curse is enhanced by the spoken word, and is presented as a formulation of evil, which stops the original working process of Creation.

In the words of the apostle Paul, the curse is a condition of subjection to vanity,

For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope, Romans 8:20

The curse is a state of physical and spiritual degradation into which a person or region enters, by virtue of the declaration of curse that has fallen upon it. The curse upsets the welfare of man.

The curse is based on the power of the word, as James himself confirms,

And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell. James 3:6

The curse is also acquired by participating in the same conditions that led a person or region to be under a curse.

If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: 11For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds. 2nd. John 1:10, 11

The words used in the Bible to define the curse are two, the first, אֲרוּרָה (arurah), whose root, ארר (arar), means the action of cursing, is the term that appears in Genesis 3:17.

In this context the meaning is, the earth becomes cursed because of the executions of those who inhabit it; the curse you sowed on the land you inhabit will be returned to you in everything you develop in it.

The second word, קְלָלָה (kelalah), refers to the text of the curse itself. This is the term that appears in the texts of Deuteronomy to refer to the curse that will fall upon those who do not follow the commandments of the Lord.

The curse never comes without a real cause to allow it. This principle is highlighted in the story of Balaam being hired by Balaach to curse Israel:

How shall I curse, whom God hath not cursed? or how shall I defy, whom the LORD hath not defied? Numbers 23:8

The best explanation of this principle is found in The Book of Proverbs,

As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not come. Proverbs 26:2

In the text of the description of Balaam’s participation it is emphasized that the curse comes from idolatry and pagan practices,

Surely there is no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination against Israel: according to this time it shall be said of Jacob and of Israel, What hath God wrought! Numbers 23:23

In short, although the curse has access to man and can disrupt his well-being wherever he lives, the curse is subject to and conditioned by the actions of the recipient.

My father peradventure will feel me, and I shall seem to him as a deceiver; and I shall bring a curse upon me, and not a blessing. Genesis 27:12

It is not only people who can receive a curse; villages can also receive a curse and are thus constituted as cursed cities and regions.

Villages, cities, regions are considered as an extension of the life of their inhabitants. The actions of the inhabitants enable the regions to be exposed to a curse.

The following examples clearly show this. The first case is the case of Cain around the city he built on his generation,

And now art thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother’s blood from thy hand; 12When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth. 13And Cain said unto the LORD, My punishment is greater than I can bear. 14Behold, thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth; and from thy face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass, that everyone that findeth me shall slay me. 15And the LORD said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the LORD set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him. Genesis 4:11-15

It can be observed that both the region of Nod, and the city of Henoch that Cain founded, were constituted in an area under curse, in which violence predominated.

The curse established by Cain created a propitious environment for its inhabitants to forge accursed personalities, as in the case of Lamech, Cain’s fifth direct line descendant.

And Lamech said unto his wives, Adah and Zillah, Hear my voice; ye wives of Lamech, hearken unto my speech: for I have slain a man to my wounding, and a young man to my hurt. 24If Cain shall be avenged sevenfold, truly Lamech seventy and sevenfold. Genesis 4:23,24

The curse generates styles and behaviors of social life that are cursed styles, which cause generations born in these styles to turn away from God. We see in Lamech an increase in evil and violence, more than Cain showed to his brother, because Lamech manifests an intentional behavior. Sexual rituals are built upon this lifestyle, closely linked to idolatrous activity and religious forms.

The case of the curse of the region of Canaan is another example. The curse entered the area because of Cam, the son of Noah, who became the initiator of the Hamitic race,

And he said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren. Genesis 9:25

In the case of the city of Jericho, the curse entered because of the idolatry and apostasy that was developed there. It was Joshua who brought a curse to prevent its reconstruction.

And Joshua adjured them at that time, saying, Cursed be the man before the LORD, that riseth up and buildeth this city Jericho: he shall lay the foundation thereof in his firstborn, and in his youngest son shall he set up the gates of it. Joshua 6:26

All these examples illustrate how towns, cities and regions are exposed to the curse because of their founders or inhabitants.

The weight of curse on a region is maintained even when the precursors and/or founders of them have disappeared. The revocation of the curse on a region cannot be removed by a declaration contrary to the established curse, it is necessary to act according to the protocol of liberation that God has established.

To deactivate the curse of a region and reconcile the region with God, the first point of the protocol is to discover who were the founders of the region, and who are its current inhabitants.

The curse of the place is the sum of the pagan executions of those who have inhabited it.

A profile of their top representatives helps us understand the cause, or causes, that caused the curse to germinate and grow in the area.

The book of Proverbs presents some causes of curse that are useful for us to understand about the subject,

11 There is a generation that curseth their father, and doth not bless their mother. 12 There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet is not washed from their filthiness. 13 There is a generation, O how lofty are their eyes! and their eyelids are lifted up. 14 There is a generation, whose teeth are as swords, and their jaw teeth as knives, to devour the poor from off the earth, and the needy from among men. Proverbs 30:11-14

Other examples of curse-causing causes: Innocent blood spilled is a cause of curse,

10 that innocent blood be not shed in thy land, which the Lord thy God giveth thee for an inheritance, and so blood be upon thee… 13 Thine eye shall not pity him, but thou shalt put away the guilt of innocent blood from Israel, that it may go well with thee. Deuteronomy 19:10-13

This situation is illustrated in the case of the reign of King Manasseh,

16 Moreover Manasseh shed innocent blood very much, till he had filled Jerusalem from one end to another; beside his sin wherewith he made Judah to sin, in doing that which was evil in the sight of the Lord. 2 Kings 21:16

Idolatrous activity is a cause of curse,

24 Thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, and upon the inhabitants thereof, even all the curses that are written in the book which they have read before the king of Judah: 25 because they have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, that they might provoke me to anger with all the works of their hands; therefore my wrath shall be poured out upon this place, and shall not be quenched. 2 Chronicles 34:24-25

Chapter 27 of the book of Deuteronomy presents several causes of curse,

  1. verse 15: Cursed be the man that maketh any graven or molten image, an abomination unto the Lord, the work of the hands of the craftsman, and putteth it in a secret place. And all the people shall answer and say, Amen.
  2. verse 16: Cursed be he that setteth light by his father or his mother. And all the people shall say, Amen.
  3. verse 17: Cursed be he that removeth his neighbour’s landmark. And all the people shall say, Amen.
  4. verse 18: Cursed be he that maketh the blind to wander out of the way. And all the people shall say, Amen.
  5. verse 19: Cursed be he that perverteth the judgment of the stranger, fatherless, and widow. And all the people shall say, Amen.
  6. verse 20: Cursed be he that lieth with his father’s wife; because he uncovereth his father’s skirt. And all the people shall say, Amen
  7. verse 21: Cursed be he that lieth with any manner of beast. And all the people shall say, Amen.
  8. verse 22: Cursed be he that lieth with his sister, the daughter of his father, or the daughter of his mother. And all the people shall say, Amen.
  9. verse 23: Cursed be he that lieth with his mother in law. And all the people shall say, Amen.
  10. verse 24: Cursed be he that smiteth his neighbour secretly. And all the people shall say, Amen.
  11. verse 25: Cursed be he that taketh reward to slay an innocent person. And all the people shall say, Amen.
  12. verse 26: Cursed be he that confirmeth not all the words of this law to do them. And all the people shall say, Amen.

The second item in the protocol: we need one that stands up with sufficient willingness to even suffer for the sake of the inhabitants of the region,

This is the difficult point, the point that very few see as necessary. It is a person who can understand that that region is important to God, and as such can act as an advocate for it, as demonstrated in the Words of Jehovah-God to Jonah,

and should not I spare Nineveh, that great city, wherein are more than six score thousand persons that cannot discern between their right hand and their left hand; and also much cattle? Jonah 4:11

It is a person who, through that understanding, is capable of sowing over that region the necessary courage to fight for it, and for its inhabitants.

The apostle Paul described this “devotion” as an commendeth of love toward the region, which is much more sublime than simply loving. It is to give him the courage, the merit that the region has for God.

7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. 8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:7-8

This commendeth his love means that the person is able to place himself between God and the region, as its reconciler, in order to convince God not to destroy it.

And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none. Ezekiel 22:30

It is about a “mediator” between God and men, one who understands the value of reconciliation,

11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement. 12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: Romans 5:11-12

It is about one who presents himself before God as a reconciler for the city,

And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; 19 to wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. 2nd. Corinthians 5:18—19

It’s about one who’s still willing to suffer because of her,

Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand. Isaiah 53:10

In other words, as the apostle Paul defines it, it is about one who is willing to suffer the same anguish as Jesus for the people to whom we are called,

who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body’s sake, which is the church: Colossians 1:24

It is not about interceding in prayer, it goes beyond that, it is about an intercession based on physical presence, on the action of faith carried out for the benefit of the region; it is the intercession based on the intention of demonstrating what that land and/or that people mean, as something valuable in the eyes of God. It is an intercession of commitment, as the apostle Paul described it around his apostolic call,

I am debtor both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians; both to the wise, and to the unwise. Romans 1:14

It is an intercession based on an understanding of what it means to serve God through people, as expressed to the faith community at Philippi,

22 But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour: yet what I shall choose I wot not. 23 For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better: 24 nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you. 25 And having this confidence, I know that I shall abide and continue with you all for your furtherance and joy of faith; Philippians 1:22-25

For this reason, and understanding that what is done for that region is more important than the prayers we may present, we need to stand up as intercessors-reconcilers, seeking with our presence and action the benefit of the region and its inhabitants,

Let no man seek his own, but every man another’s wealth. 1st. Corinthians 10:24

The third item in the protocol: the intercessor-reconciler must perform acts of faith in the region that contravene the pagan acts of the persons for whom the curse came to the region.

This point of the protocol is based entirely on chapter 5 of the Apostle Paul’s Epistle to the Community of Faith in Rome.

In this chapter, the apostle establishes several doctrinal points that are extremely important and valuable for the topic we are working on.

  • The first point that the apostle makes is that Jesus, when we were yet without strength (ασθενων), in due time Christ died for the ungodly ( verse 6)

This first point arises from the apostle’s comparison between one who is strong and one who is considered weak. The term the apostle uses to refer to non-strengthened is ασθενων (asthenon). This same term is translated in John 5:7, and 11:1, as, sick; a weak in the wording of the apostle is actually a hospital patient.

This comparative view that the apostle presents in verse 6, of Jesus dying for sinners, presented as non-strengthened in the apostle’s writing, leads us to understand that Jesus’ willingness to suffer for sinners was of his own choosing, and not because “sinners” represented a benefit to him. This is the basis of understanding that empowers us to operate as a reconciler of a region, or of a person. Without a proper understanding of this provision, there is no act of faith.

  • This first point leads the apostle to establish that God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (verse 8)

This means that since the sinner does not represent “benefit” for Him, because he is powerless and ungodly, the value that the sinner acquires by this “act” in favor of him, is one assigned by God himself, or rather, a value given by God in reward of the one who was willing to work for him, is what the apostle calls “commendeth love” (αγαπην/ agapin).

This second point of the apostle establishes, for the purposes of our subject, that in order to reconcile a cursed region with God, it is basic that the person gives value to the region.

We have an example in Abraham. God calls him from distant lands to give him a land in inheritance.[1] However, although heir and owner, he paid a high sum of money for it.

14 And Ephron answered Abraham, saying unto him, 15 My lord, hearken unto me: the land is worth four hundred shekels of silver; what is that betwixt me and thee? bury therefore thy dead. 16 And Abraham hearkened unto Ephron; and Abraham weighed to Ephron the silver, which he had named in the audience of the sons of Heth, four hundred shekels of silver, current money with the merchant. 17 And the field of Ephron, which was in Machpelah, which was before Mamre, the field, and the cave which was therein, and all the trees that were in the field, that were in all the borders round about, were made sure Genesis 23:14-17

This act of paying for a land that was already his constitutes Abraham’s commendeth love for that land, all for the purpose of deactivating the curse of Ham, and reconciling it with God.

One who reconciles must commendeth the value of the land through investments through acts of faith. He cannot collect or accept offerings when invited to preach, but he can pay his own expenses out of his own personal resources.

  • The third point which the Apostle states is that sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned (verse 12)

The pagan and idolatrous actions of a person are those that empower the curse to occupy government over a region. For the pagan actions and satanic pacts of a person a whole region becomes a cursed and depraved region.

From there, as we mentioned in item one of the reconciliation protocol, the need to identify the founders of the populations and their most significant residents, because in their actions lies the curse of the city.

  • The fourth doctrinal point of the apostle is the point that properly establishes how the reconciliation of the regions is carried out.

The apostle states that as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. (verse 19). In other words, disobedience introduces curse, obedience introduces blessing and reconciliation. The process is simple, it is about one who establishes obedience to God through his acts; this is the process of reconciliation of cursed regions.

15 But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many. 16 And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification. 17 For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.) 18 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. 19 For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. Romans 5:15-19

Reconciliation is established when by obedience a Word is opposed to the word or act that brought a curse upon the region.

This means that whoever operates as a reconciler must submit to the obedience of a Word that opposes the acts that established the curse on the region.

A strong biblical case is the case of Zacchaeus. Zacchaeus lived in Jericho, a cursed city; sometimes we lose sight of this fact. Jesus knows this, so he looks for one who will stand in the gap to remove the curse from the city and reconcile it to God.

Jericho received a curse because of the idolatry that operated in it, making it anathema and abominable before God.

The disobedience that prevailed in the city from its foundation until the arrival of the people of Israel was the one that determined that God decided its destruction, that same disobedience was the one that defiled Achân when he took and hid a Babylonian mantle; notice how the defilement of one man brought defeat and destruction to an entire people. Achân’s action of disobedience would find an echo in those who rebuilt the city, this action of disobedience had to be opposed by someone who was willing to obey, and thus defuse this curse.

When Zacchaeus said: Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken anything from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold,[2] referring to the provision of the Law to make good the damage with an additional 20% to the defrauded value, Zacchaeus established obedience, and by the obedience of one (Zacchaeus), the many were constituted righteous.

Zacchaeus’ obedience established the righteousness by which the reconciliation of the region came. The Words, This day is salvation come to this house, establish the liberation and reconciliation of the house of Zacchaeus, but the liberation and reconciliation of the whole region.

Zacchaeus’ obedience surpassed the demand of the Law’s commandment, since Zacchaeus’ commitment led him to compensate with 25% for the damage.

Whoever operates as the reconciler of a region must be willing to submit to obedience to the Word. Reconciliation does not come by simple decree, as many claim to do. It requires obedience to a Word that contravenes the pagan acts that opened the door to the curse.

If the curse of a region came because of greed, the reconciler must submit to content himself with what he has, as established by the instruction of the apostle Paul,

Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. Philippians 4:11

If the curse of a region arrived because of lust and degenerate sexual practices, the reconciler must submit himself to sexual purity,

Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge. Hebrews 13:4

The reconciler of the region must learn to flee from fornication and sexual depravity,

Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. 1st. Corinthians 6:18

If the curse of a region came because of idolatrous worship and occult science, the reconciler must tear down every kind of altar,

And God said unto Jacob, Arise, go up to Beth-el, and dwell there: and make there an altar unto God, that appeared unto thee when thou fleddest from the face of Esau thy brother. 2 Then Jacob said unto his household, and to all that were with him, Put away the strange gods that are among you, and be clean, and change your garments: 3 and let us arise, and go up to Beth-el; and I will make there an altar unto God, who answered me in the day of my distress, and was with me in the way which I went. 4 And they gave unto Jacob all the strange gods which were in their hand, and all their earrings which were in their ears; and Jacob hid them under the oak which was by Shechem. Genesis 35:1-4

The reconciler must learn to flee from every tendency to erect an altar and from every action to the exaltation of achievements,

Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry. 1st. Corinthians 10:14

In short, the reconciliation of cursed cities is achieved by the act of faith performed in obedience to the Word, obtained when by the direction of the Holy Spirit, the reconciler establishes the Word that contradicts the action developed by those by whom the curse was introduced.

Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? Romans 6:16

In the case of Adam and Eve, the curse entered because of their disobedience to the Word of God, it was necessary for Jesus to demolish that foundation of curse by submitting to obedience, so when He established the purpose of His presence on earth, He said,

And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him. John 8:29

Obedience even to death,

and being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Philippians 2:8

Why was it necessary for Jesus to be obedient even to the point of death? Because death was the result of disobedience,

but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. Genesis 2:17

And as we have seen, the reconciler must put a Word, or an action, contrary to that which brought the curse to the region, Jesus being obedient unto death, overcame the one who had the empire of death, and introduced liberation and reconciliation,

Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; Hebrews 2:14

When we say that it is an act of faith in obedience to the Word, we are not referring to a single act; according to the impregnation of the curse in the place several acts of faith will be necessary, even a whole life,

But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing. 2nd. Thessalonians 3:13

There are several cases that we would like to discuss, at least here briefly to point out. The case of Haiti, is a cursed land and the curse entered because of voodoo practices, and hidden practices of witchcraft.

Whoever tries to work in that country to reconcile that land with God must consider living in obedience under the divine resource, without resorting to anything or anyone but God, for it is the Word that opposes voodoo as a life resource for personal gain,

Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles. Isaiah 42:1

He/she should establish the Word of David,

My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me. Psalm 63:8

The case of Venezuela. Venezuela is a land that has received a curse because of the words and actions of a man, Hugo Chávez, who wanted to introduce a model of human justice, that of Simón Bolívar, rejecting the one established in the Word; the worst part of this situation is that many pastors accepted it and followed him, not discerning the curse they were attracting. Satan has acquired legal rights to that land.

Hugo Chavez dared to curse Israel, and that curse fell on the whole nation. Scarcity and poverty are the predominant curse in the area.

Whoever works as a reconciler in Venezuela must submit to the Word that brings righteousness, it is not enough just to preach; it is necessary to establish the Word of righteousness, and obedience to that Word.

learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow. Isaiah 1:17

And so on, El Salvador, Bolivia, Argentina, whose social conditions are not the product of socio-economic and political causes, but of a curse that has fallen on the area because of pagan, idolatrous acts and the establishment of witches whose actions have even permeated the customs of communities of faith.

The curses of the regions will not be removed until one, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it.

Whoever operates as a reconciler of a region must be willing to submit to obedience to the Word.

Bringing to Light the Hidden Abomination of Regions

Evangelization and Spiritual Warfare Strategies

Based on the fact that the demonic Powers and Principalities accantoned in an inhabited region never operate independently of the people who live there, that it is the facts of their inhabitants who summon them, concert with them and cause them to settle in their region, the only way to distort the power of the spiritual forces of the place is to invalidate the works of those who gave them the right to settle on the site.

This may surprise many, and more than a few might object to the approach of this topic. However, it is necessary and convenient to point out here that spiritual warfare is a protocol of action and not loose “steps” of independent actions, which leads us to understand why the forces of darkness cannot be evicted from a place by the simple fact of reprimanding them.

In the concepts of traditional spiritual warfare it has been stated, for example, that Satan will be subject to one who rebukes him only because he is darkness and the one who rebukes him is light; which is not what the Word teaches; while it is true that we have authority to tread on serpents and scorpions,[1] and by the Spirit to cast out demons,[2] authority is conditioned on the ability of each one to live in subjection to the Spirit, which already demonstrates the value of spiritual warfare protocols;

and having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled. 2nd. Corinthians 10:6

The doctrine of Jesus emphasizes that not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven;[3] which in matters of spiritual warfare means that the spiritual authority to cast out demons is conditioned, that is, it depends on the absence of “disobedience” in the man of faith who can give “right” to the enemy to question his authority. Not only is it a matter of rebuking, it is necessary that he who exercises the authority of faith in Jesus fulfills minimum conditions to ensure that his authority will strike a blunt blow to the darkness.

In spiritual matters there is what is known as a “legal right” which consists of the “permission” that Satan acquires to operate in a person, or in a place, because of the opportunity that the person, or the place, gave him to do so. Spiritual warfare consists of “distorting” the authority of the opponent, that is, canceling the “legal right” of the enemy in order to be able to rebuke and subject all his activity; it is the doctrine that Jesus established in his teachings and is described in all the gospels,

21 When a strong man armed keepeth his palace, his goods are in peace: 22 but when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he taketh from him all his armour wherein he trusted, and divideth his spoils. Luke 11:21-22

The teaching is clear, spiritual warfare consists in “distorting” the force of the enemy; in the context of this text it is discovered that the teaching was established in direct relation to spiritual warfare,

But if I with the finger of God cast out devils, no doubt the kingdom of God is come upon you. Verse. 20

This is what spiritual warfare with wisdom is all about. It is not only a question of “rebuking” because as we have noticed, the spiritual forces stationed in one place have the “right” to be in the place; the operation of the man of Revelation consists in “distorting” the authority of the opposite. So, to properly introduce ourselves into this study, the first thing we will do is to establish the proper Scriptural foundation.

In the first chapter of the epistle to the Romans, the apostle Paul states that the operation and establishment of demonic forces within a region comes as a consequence of the “insistence” of its inhabitants by the practice of one, or several, abominable actions before the eyes of the Lord. Within the same chapter the apostle refers to three types of actions that grant “right” to the forces of darkness to remain in the area.

In the first reference, the apostle discusses the spiritual weight of ungodliness and unrighteousness actions. Demons establish their “culture” because of the observance of all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness (verse. 18). Acts of ungodliness and unrighteousness consist in the decision of a person, or of an entire community, to ignore God in their daily life, and not to want to walk according to the biblical principles of Justice, Judgment and Equity,

19 because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. 20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: 21 because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Romans 1:19-21

Acts of ungodliness and unrighteousness are the foundation of the philosophical, atheistic and pragmatic communities that see in their philosophical and scientific approaches the only life resource they need to build their societies. In the teaching that the apostle shares with the faith community in Rome, he emphasizes that every act of ungodliness and unrighteousness develops a darkening of the heart of the person, and over time their actions mutate into actions aimed at building idolatrous concepts,

22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, 23 and changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. Romans 1:22-23

In another of his epistles, the apostle Paul clearly points out that demons operate behind every idolatrous action and conceptualization,

19 What say I then? that the idol is anything, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is anything? 20 But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils. 1st. Corinthians 10:19-20

In this regard, we should emphasize that all idolatrous conceptualization not only consists of religious adoration of icons, but also includes a fascination with anime animation, avatars, symbols, symbolic logos, and any conventional representation of underground communication.

In the second reference, the apostle discusses about the actions of men who change the truth of God into a lie, it is understood, the actions that persist in emphasizing more the created things than the Creator. The actions that change the truth of God are actions that glorify the body of the person; they are the ungodly actions directed to develop “cult” to the human body: beauty, fashion, clothing, food, bodybuilding, etc..,

24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: 25 who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. Romans 1:24-25

The Principals and Powers that operate on this type of actions have as characteristic that they promote that the inhabitants of the zone look for “distort” their gender; this is how we have the following movements: transgender activities, transvestites, effeminate, homosexualism, bisexualism, lesbianism, metrosexual, etc., all of them with a marked emphasis by the “cult” to the corporal thing of the human body.

26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: 27 and likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. Romans 1:26-27

In the third reference, the apostle discusses the atheistic actions developed on the basis of not having God in their knowledge; these are actions that persist in discarding God in all their knowledge, and even take Him out of all their emblematic spaces,

And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; Romans 1:28

The actions of not having God in their knowledge develop in the inhabitants of a place that their conduct and physical appearance adopt demonic “personalization”,

29 being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, 30 backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31 without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: 32 who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them. Romans 1:29-32

The forces of darkness seated in a place cannot be expelled by the simple fact that they are darkness and that they operate in evil, they do not respond nor react to the “rebuke”; they have the right that the actions of their dwellers have given them.

In the book of the prophet Isaiah we also find a case where the spiritual weight of the ungodly actions of the inhabitants of a place is shown. It is the actions of the inhabitants who authorize the demonic forces to settle within their region.

15 Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves:… 18 And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it. Isaiah 28:15-18

Another example is also the words of Balaam at the insistence of Balak to curse the people of Israel, in them it is discovered the spiritual principle that we have been establishing: for the forces of darkness to operate among men, it is necessary that they authorize him with their deeds to do so. In the case of Balaam it is discovered that he cannot operate against them not so much because God forbids him, but because the people do not have actions that authorize him to do so. Let us review Balaam’s words:

How shall I curse, whom God hath not cursed? or how shall I defy, whom the Lord hath not defied? Numbers 23:8

Let us understand Balaam’s answer: the forces of darkness need the “acts” of men who authorize them to act, and to settle in the place. This is confirmed in the same account in the book of Numbers, a little later in the account:

21 He hath not beheld iniquity in Jacob, neither hath he seen perverseness in Israel: the Lord his God is with him, and the shout of a king is among them. 22 God brought them out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn. 23 Surely there is no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination against Israel: according to this time it shall be said of Jacob and of Israel, What hath God wrought! Numbers 23:21-23

Balaam could do nothing against Israel because Israel’s “actions” —Surely there is no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination against Israel— did not allow the forces of darkness to operate against the people. So, understanding that the only way for the forces of darkness to operate within the people -and by extension within any community- was to make their own actions incur in perversity, Balaam advised Balak to cause the people of Israel to engage in an activity whose actions evoked ungodliness and fell into prevarication; this was achieved by summoning them to a regional festival where the “daughters of Moab” participated,

Behold, (daughters of Moab) these caused the children of Israel, through the counsel of Balaam, to commit trespass against the Lord in the matter of Peor, and there was a plague among the congregation of the Lord. Numbers 31:16 Note: The parenthesis is our for illustration purposes.

The counsel of Balaam did its work, and the people of Israel were defiled, and twenty-four thousand men of the whole population perished because of it.[4]

So, in conclusion to this first part, in order to distort the power of the Principalities and Powers stationed in one place, it is imperative that we first distort the “legal right” that the inhabitants of the area gave them to act among themselves; the purpose is to remove from them the bastion behind which they have hidden, and from where they have operated by establishing their power. How is this achieved?

This is accomplished by bringing to light the perverse works that the inhabitants of the place are practicing, or practiced, depending on whether the Principalities and Powers were established recently or from ancient times. In Demetrius’ testimony concerning the power of Diana of the Ephesians, this point is clearly observed;

Moreover ye see and hear, that not alone at Ephesus, but almost throughout all Asia, this Paul hath persuaded and turned away much people, saying that they be no gods, which are made with hands: Acts 19:26

Paul brought to light the actions and works of idolatry of Greek mythology that the inhabitants of the place had practiced for years. Demetrius’ testimony contains the words that Paul used to bring to light the actions of its inhabitants: they are not gods that are made with hands. Demetrius’ own words also show how his power collapsed in every region where he was worshipped,

so that not only this our craft is in danger to be set at nought; but also that the temple of the great goddess Diana should be despised, and her magnificence should be destroyed, whom all Asia and the world worshippeth. Acts 19:27

And with this denunciation, all those who were linked to such a practice were disrupted, so much so that the writer of the Acts of the Apostles records in his narrative that many turned away from the worship of Diana and renounced all forms of idolatry,

18 And many that believed came, and confessed, and shewed their deeds. 19 Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together, and burned them before all men: and they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver. Acts 19:18-19

Is this all human inventiveness? No, it is not a theological inventive, it is the Revelation in the Word of the protocol of spiritual warfare to distort the power of the Principalities and Powers stationed in one place. The biblical basis that authorizes us to operate in this way is contained in the doctrine of Jesus.

For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither anything hid, that shall not be known and come abroad. Luke 8:17

The power to tread on serpents and scorpions resides in the capacity to act by Revelation bringing to light all things that have been hidden. In the gospel of John we find in the doctrine of Jesus, that the strength of darkness lies in its willingness to keep hidden the evil works of all who sponsor them,

For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. John 3:20

Due to the type of confrontation with Principalities and Powers to which the apostle was exposed in the different regions he visited, are his epistles the ones that contain more Revelation on how to “discover” what is hidden in the cultures of the places. In his Epistle to the Ephesians he lays the foundation of operation,

11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them13 But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light. Ephesians 5:11-13

“Reprove” means to expose them to public knowledge. The Jubilee Bible 2000 (JBS), the New International Version (NVI) and New American Bible (Revised Edition) (NABRE) translates it as “expose”. So it is clear, the process of expelling the forces of the satanic Principalities and Powers located in a place consists of “bringing to light” the unsuccessful works that the inhabitants of the place are developing as part of the establishment of the forces of darkness in the place. This is accomplished by spiritually denouncing them from the most emblematic place in the region. We have the basic example in the case of Moses raising his arms while Joshua fought against Amalek,

9 And Moses said unto Joshua, Choose us out men, and go out, fight with Amalek: tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in mine hand. 10 So Joshua did as Moses had said to him, and fought with Amalek: and Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill. 11 And it came to pass, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed: and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed. Exodus 17:9-11

Principalities and Powers are extremely strong demonic forces; however, they lose strength when they are brought to light and denounced.

He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy. Proverbs 28:13

Covering up evil, dissipating it and/or simply repressing it, represents the path of illness and physical-spiritual deterioration,

When I kept silence, my bones waxed old through my roaring all the day long. Psalm 32:3

In his same epistle to the Ephesians, the apostle instructs that “to bring to light” the occult, and to denounce it, does not mean that it should be denounced to the public light by means of a press release, or similar; it means that the man and woman of Revelation “denounce” before the Principalities and Powers of the place the perverse work they have carried out in the place,

to the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God, Ephesians 3:10

The purpose is to “reproach” them for all the perverse labor they have raised against the knowledge of the Most High,

3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: 4 (for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds) 5 casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; 2nd. Corinthians 10:3-5

The exercise of idolatry, the practice of sorcery, witchcraft, divination and all rituals of invocation of the dead, among the strongest, not to mention the Tarot, palmistry, reading of the hand, divination in all its forms, without setting aside, the most popular, the practice of ominous, are perverse facts that promote settlements of principalities and satanic powers in the regions that exercise such facts.

The purpose is to discover the perversity upon which was built and raised the society of the city and/or region. There are cities that were built upon the practice of Masonry; others, upon the practices of witchcraft, sorcery and Santeria; others, upon the practices of prostitution and sexual exploitation of foreigners; many of the new societies established in the Caribbean after the voyages of Christopher Columbus were developed on the basis of piracy.

In the search of those who summoned the Principalities and Powers of the region, should not be ignored those who were part of Masonic Lodges, brotherhoods, charitable clubs, among others, even if they seem harmless and present themselves with a beneficial-social image, the beneficial not only seeks to favor the neediest, on the contrary, its ultimate purpose is to subsist on the need of others. Masonic groups encourage the worship of the dead, hence their strength, brotherhoods and other related clubs promote rituals and pacts in which those who participate in them are bound by ties of evil.

All these depraved practices, of ungodliness and unrighteousness, are the basis of operation and the legal right with which the Principalities and Powers operate today in many places in Latin America, Africa and Asia, in whose regions the Gospel has not yet been established due to the blindness that the Principalities and Powers exert on their inhabitants,

in whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. 2nd. Corinthians 4:4

Is everything reduced to “bringing to light” the perverse works of the inhabitants of a place? To “bring to light” is the beginning of the protocol, from then on it continues the processes of denouncing evil, emitting judgment and finally, reprimanding the Powers of the place.

To denounce evil means to file the charges of evil that the inhabitants of that locality are developing.

6 He said furthermore unto me, Son of man, seest thou what they do? even the great abominations that the house of Israel committeth here, that I should go far off from my sanctuary? but turn thee yet again, and thou shalt see greater abominations. 7 And he brought me to the door of the court; and when I looked, behold a hole in the wall. 8 Then said he unto me, Son of man, dig now in the wall: and when I had digged in the wall, behold a door. 9 And he said unto me, Go in, and behold the wicked abominations that they do here. 10 So I went in and saw; and behold every form of creeping things, and abominable beasts, and all the idols of the house of Israel, pourtrayed upon the wall round about. 11 And there stood before them seventy men of the ancients of the house of Israel, and in the midst of them stood Jaazaniah the son of Shaphan, with every man his censer in his hand; and a thick cloud of incense went up. 12 Then said he unto me, Son of man, hast thou seen what the ancients of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in the chambers of his imagery? for they say, The Lord seeth us not; the Lord hath forsaken the earth. 13 He said also unto me, Turn thee yet again, and thou shalt see greater abominations that they do. 14 Then he brought me to the door of the gate of the Lord’s house which was toward the north; and, behold, there sat women weeping for Tammuz. 15 Then said he unto me, Hast thou seen this, O son of man? turn thee yet again, and thou shalt see greater abominations than these. Ezekiel 8:6-15

The book of Deuteronomy contains charges for the practices of divination and omens,

For these nations, which thou shalt possess, hearkened unto observers of times, and unto diviners: but as for thee, the Lord thy God hath not suffered thee so to do. Deuteronomy 18:14

The prophet Zechariah denounces the practice of worshipping family idols, according to the beliefs that generations have built around the practice of auguring through the events of omen,

For the idols (teraphim) have spoken vanity, and the diviners have seen a lie, and have told false dreams; they comfort in vain: therefore they went their way as a flock, they were troubled, because there was no shepherd. Zechariah 10:2

Idolatry is the cause of the curse that strikes the regions. The psalmist David denounces that the rituals of consecration of children to pagan deities degenerate populations and turn them into violent and blood-shedding societies,

37 Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto devils, 38 and shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan: and the land was polluted with blood. 39 Thus were they defiled with their own works, and went a whoring with their own inventions. Psalm 106:37-39

The prophet Isaiah adds that idolatry also causes the earth to become an unrighteous region,

2 but your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear. 3 For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue hath muttered perverseness. 4 None calleth for justice, nor any pleadeth for truth: they trust in vanity, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity. Isaiah 59:2-4

The prophet Jeremiah likewise states that idolatry causes regions to suffer scarcity, poverty and sudden destruction,

8 And I saw, when for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce; yet her treacherous sister Judah feared not, but went and played the harlot also. 9 And it came to pass through the lightness of her whoredom, that she defiled the land, and committed adultery with stones and with stocks. 10 And yet for all this her treacherous sister Judah hath not turned unto me with her whole heart, but feignedly, saith the Lord Jeremiah 3:8-10

Social injustice is an action that must be denounced. The prophet Micah certifies that the perverted and unjust actions of the inhabitants of a region constitute a source of contamination of the earth, provoking its corruption and giving the right to the satanic Principalities and Powers to settle on them,

8 Even of late my people is risen up as an enemy: ye pull off the robe with the garment from them that pass by securely as men averse from war. 9 The women of my people have ye cast out from their pleasant houses; from their children have ye taken away my glory forever. 10 Arise ye, and depart; for this is not your rest: because it is polluted, it shall destroy you, even with a sore destruction. 11 If a man walking in the spirit and falsehood do lie, saying, I will prophesy unto thee of wine and of strong drink; he shall even be the prophet of this people. Micah 2:8-11

The prophet Zephaniah states that social injustice contaminates the earth, turning it into an arid land,

Woe to her that is filthy and polluted, to the oppressing city! 2 She obeyed not the voice; she received not correction; she trusted not in the Lord; she drew not near to her God. 3 Her princes within her are roaring lions; her judges are evening wolves; they gnaw not the bones till the morrow. Zephaniah 3:1-3

The above texts are not the only ones, there are many other texts in both the New and the Old Testament. All of them converge on one point: to denounce the perversion of city dwellers, and how their deeds have alienated God’s Presence from their land.

The next step in the protocol process is to pass judgment against the local residents, mostly the righteous who live within the region. Why is it necessary to pass judgment? It is necessary to issue a judgment so that the Mercy of God is activated over the inhabitants of the place;

For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? 1st. Peter 4:17

To pass judgment is to declare on the basis of the Word the consequences of having walked in opposite disobedience to God; let’s see some examples,

But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against the Lord: and be sure your sin will find you out. Numbers 32:23

9 Then they said one to another, We do not well: this day is a day of good tidings, and we hold our peace: if we tarry till the morning light, some mischief will come upon us: now therefore come, that we may go and tell the king’s household. 2 Kings 7:9

then it shall come to pass, that the sword, which ye feared, shall overtake you there in the land of Egypt, and the famine, whereof ye were afraid, shall follow close after you there in Egypt; and there ye shall die. Jeremiah 42:16

But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money. Acts 8:20

Judgment is necessary, otherwise the wrath of God will fall upon them,

He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes. Proverbs 13:24

Open rebuke is better than secret love. Proverbs 27:5

Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. Ephesians 5:6

for which things’ sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience: Colossians 3:6

Finally, rebuke. To rebuke means to remove that which is crooked, to remove that which causes harm; it is to bring everything back to the original state before evil had been established,

Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear. 1st. Timothy 5:20

This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith; Titus 1:13

These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee. Titus 2:15

But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money. Acts 8:20

But when I saw that they walked not uprightly according to the truth of the gospel, I said unto Peter before them all, If thou, being a Jew, livest after the manner of Gentiles, and not as do the Jews, why compellest thou the Gentiles to live as do the Jews? Galatians 2:14

The establishment of the Gospel of the Kingdom does not consist only in the proclamation of salvation; to establish the Gospel of the Kingdom is to rebuke the forces of darkness stationed in the places; to rebuke consists in the ability to expel the darkness established in that place; it is not a human whim, it is obedience to the instruction contained in the Genesis of when all things were created, the Light was the first thing that was introduced into the earth.[5] This principle is ratified in the New Testament when Paul establishes the difference between the Kingdom of God and the kingdom of darkness,

Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? 2nd. Corinthians 6:14

Therefore, to rebuke in order to establish the Kingdom of God is to introduce Light into the regions. All the Epistles of the Apostle record this principle of the establishment of the Kingdom,

18 For I will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ hath not wrought by me, to make the Gentiles obedient, by word and deed, 19 through mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God; so that from Jerusalem, and round about unto Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ. Romans 15:18-19

If it is not rebuked there is no expulsion of demons, and we cannot say that the Kingdom of God has been established, and here it is necessary to remember the doctrine of Jesus around the establishment of the Kingdom of God,

But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you. Matthew 12:28 (Luke 11:20)

The unequivocal sign that the Kingdom has been established in a place is the expulsion of the forces of darkness operating in the place.

The evangelization of the regions does not consist only in the preaching of the Gospel; the evangelization consists in knowing how to spiritually distort the satanic forces of the Principalities and Powers that operate in the region. This condition is proposed by the apostle Paul as the condition for the return of Jesus,

For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. 1st. Corinthians 15:25

Ratified also in the Epistle to the Hebrews,

from henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. Hebrews 10:13

This doctrinal emphasis is clearly emphasized in the accounts of Paul’s apostolic journeys; Luke takes time to describe how the apostle faced evil Powers operating in the regions he visited,

18 And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour. 19 And when her masters saw that the hope of their gains was gone, they caught Paul and Silas, and drew them into the marketplace unto the rulers, Acts 16:18-19

18 And many that believed came, and confessed, and shewed their deeds. 19 Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together, and burned them before all men: and they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver. Acts 19:18-19

Thus, the doctrine of Jesus that the Gospel be preached throughout the world, means not only a worldwide coverage of the proclamation of the Gospel, but above all, that the Principalities and Powers that operate in all the earth are deprived of the right that assists them to operate in it. This is the ultimate expression and the true meaning that salvation has come to this house.[6]

The facts of man and his contribution to the establishment of Principalities and Powers in a region

Evangelization and Spiritual Warfare Strategies

God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day. Psalm 7:11

The demonic Powers and Principalities settled in an inhabited region never operate independently of the people who live there, it is the facts of their inhabitants who summon them, concert with them and make them settle in their region.

The case Jesus presented about the unclean spirit seeking rest after leaving a person[1] shows us, first, that it is not the uninhabited places that demons seek, that demons choose to live in the same urban settlements established by man; and, second, it shows us that demonic forces depend on “man” to exercise their dominion over the earth; or rather, they depend on the facts of this one, or these, to operate with right over the region.

Why are a person’s deeds so important? The facts of a person are an extension of his essence, they are his definition and the characteristic of his being. A person’s deeds are to him what fruits are to a tree, it is the part of his nature that makes him “like” God.

16Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?… 20Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. Matthew 7:16-20

Why do demons depend on man’s deeds to operate? Man is not like God only by his form, nor only by the breath of life that God put in him; the likeness of God in him consists in his ability to “rule” over all creation. In the account of his formation it is emphasized that the reason for doing him in the image and likeness of the Creator is so that he may rule over all creation.

And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. Genesis 1:26

Additionally, in the account of when he is placed in Eden, it is defined that Adam is placed in the garden to dress it and keep it,,

And the Lord God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. Genesis 2:15

The terms, to dress and to keep, correspond to the words עָבְדָהּ (a.bo.daj), and שָׁמְרָהּ (sha.me.raj) respectively, both in feminine gender.

The first word, to dress, is also used in the book of Numbers (4:35, 39 and 43), and in the first book of Chronicles (25:1), except that in all these other texts the word עָבְדָהּ (a.bo.daj) is translated as to minister, and/or, in ministry. The word is used exclusively to define the service of the Levites and singers in the service within the Tabernacle, and eventually, in the service within the Temple; the term is used in the other books of the Old Testament to refer to a priestly function.

So, the word עָבְדָהּ (a.bo.daj) from the Genesis, translated into English as to dress, does not necessarily have to do with “agricultural” work, as most versions suggest; it refers rather to a “protocol” work of ordination and regeneration, similar to the work of a priest within the Temple. This is the value of a man’s “deeds.

It is man’s innate ability to “create” and to transform his environment —his deeds— that Satan needs from him in order to operate on earth. Satan does not have the capacity to “create”.

and I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. Genesis 3:15

The Principalities and Powers are attracted by the facts of people, they are the “lightning rod” that invites them to park in a place; man’s deeds are the “food” that strengthens the satanic work on the face of the earth.

14And the Lord God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:… 17And unto Adam he said,… 19 in the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return. Genesis 3:14-19

We are not referring to covenants with Satan, we are referring to “acts”, the totality of man’s acts. In the dialogue between God and Cain, after both Abel and Cain presented an offering to God, God discovers to Cain that the acts of a person are those that determine whether he approaches God or Satan,

6And the Lord said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen? 7If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him. Genesis 4:6-7

When man turns away from God all his acts, without exception, become acts of perversity, acts of impiety and unrighteousness, and acts of malice and idolatry, and these become the legal basis for the operation of Satan on the locality.

The man who turns away from God is named in the Bible under the term “ungodly”. David established in one of his psalms that God is angry with the ungodly man every day,

God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day. Psalm 7:11

Why is God angry with the ungodly? God is angry with the wicked because by his deeds, number one, the earth is defiled:

17Son of man, when the house of Israel dwelt in their own land, they defiled it by their own way and by their doings: their way was before me as the uncleanness of a removed woman. 18 Wherefore I poured my fury upon them for the blood that they had shed upon the land, and for their idols wherewith they had polluted it: Ezekiel 36:17-18

And, number two, because by their deeds the earth is given over to the operation of Principalities and Powers, and they settle on it:

But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils. 1st. Corinthians 10:20; read also Revelation 9:20; 16:14

The apostle Paul also explains that the wrath of God weighs upon all the ungodly all the days of their lives, because their deeds disperse disobedience in the environment,

Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. Ephesians 5:6

for which things’ sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience: Colossians 3:6

God’s wrath upon the wicked is so great that He hears none of their prayers, as stated in the Gospel of John:

Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth. John 9:31

The wrath of God upon an ungodly man may lead him to definitively depart from his Presence, as established in the books of the prophets:

2I have loved you, saith the Lord. Yet ye say, Wherein hast thou loved us? Was not Esau Jacob’s brother? saith the Lord: yet I loved Jacob, 3 and I hated Esau, and laid his mountains and his heritage waste for the dragons of the wilderness. Malachi 1:2-3, read also Romans 9:13

And this that God can separate the ungodly from His Presence is definitely because God’s Grace also includes “time” to be applied; Grace does not mean indefinite waiting:

And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not. Revelation 2:21

Thus, ungodly (wicked man) is the classification that corresponds to those who turn away from God, and whose acts give right to the Principalities and Powers to settle in the inhabited regions.

The Holy Scriptures classify all these acts as abominable acts before the presence of the Lord, and the fact that God abhors these acts is what opens spiritual spaces for demonic forces to establish themselves in the adjacent areas of those who practice them.

for the Lord thy God walketh in the midst of thy camp, to deliver thee, and to give up thine enemies before thee; therefore shall thy camp be holy: that he see no unclean thing in thee, and turn away from thee. Deuteronomy 23:14

Based on these instructions, the apostle Paul urges the community of faith in Corinth on the need that each community of faith should have to cleanse itself of satanic contaminations, for if they do not do so they not only put at risk the permanence of the Lord among them, but also expose themselves to the imposition upon them of a power of evil,

Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. 2nd. Corinthians 7:1

This instruction is present in all the writings of the Old as New Testament,

23Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: 24and see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. Psalm 139:23-24

4Give them according to their deeds, and according to the wickedness of their endeavours: give them after the work of their hands; render to them their desert. 5Because they regard not the works of the Lord, nor the operation of his hands, he shall destroy them, and not build them up. Psalm 28:4-5

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; Romans 1:18

To all this we must also add the acts of sexual perversion. The subject of sexual perversion is much broader than we can imagine, includes situations ranging from genital manipulation[2] to the natural deformation of the sexes,[3] including between these two points the different forms in which fornication occurs.[4]

Sexual perversion is aimed at attacking the image and likeness of God impregnated in man, the purpose is to erase in man the nexus he may have about an Almighty God. The most common forms of sexual perversion are related to the subject of fornication. Fornication in the ancient biblical concept is defined as prostitution,

13Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats: but God shall destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body. 14And God hath both raised up the Lord, and will also raise up us by his own power. 15Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid. 1st. Corinthians 6:13-15

Paul also classifies as fornication the sexual unions of a father with his son’s wife, or vice versa,

It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father’s wife. 1st. Corinthians 5:1

The Law of Moses regulated and forbade all such unions; these unions are also considered fornication,

11The nakedness of thy father’s wife’s daughter, begotten of thy father, she is thy sister, thou shalt not uncover her nakedness… 14Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy father’s brother, thou shalt not approach to his wife: she is thine aunt. Leviticus 18:11-14

11And the man that lieth with his father’s wife hath uncovered his father’s nakedness: both of them shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them20And if a man shall lie with his uncle’s wife, he hath uncovered his uncle’s nakedness: they shall bear their sin; they shall die childless. Leviticus 20:11-20 (Deuteronomy 22:30; 27:20)

In the book of Ezra fornication is presented as unions with impure peoples,

For they have taken of their daughters for themselves, and for their sons: so that the holy seed have mingled themselves with the people of those lands: yea, the hand of the princes and rulers hath been chief in this trespass. Ezra 9:2

This foundation is also found in the apostle Paul’s writing to the community of Corinth,

Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? 2nd. Corinthians 6:14

These acts of sexual perversion were the cause God intended to destroy the world by a flood,

And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, 2 that the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose. 3 And the Lord said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years. Genesis 6:1-3

The situation presented was not because of sexual immorality, it consisted in not having kept the purity of Revelation given to generations that God chose to keep the pure knowledge of His Presence among men; hence the perversion, because they derived Revelation and turned it into knowledge available even for the perverse. A similar situation is again manifested in the case with the daughters of Moab,

And Israel abode in Shittim, and the people began to commit whoredom with the daughters of Moab. 2 And they called the people unto the sacrifices of their gods: and the people did eat, and bowed down to their gods. 3 And Israel joined himself unto Baal-peor: and the anger of the Lord was kindled against Israel. Numbers 25:1-3

So, though we have no struggle against flesh and blood,[5] as we have been well instructed by the apostle Paul, we cannot ignore that the perverse facts of the “ungodly” of the zone is what sponsors the permanence in the place of the Principals and Powers that operate between them.

In his own epistle Paul states that the “sons of disobedience” are those who are supporting with their acts the functioning of the demonic forces settled in the place.

5For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. 6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. 7 Be not ye therefore partakers with them. Ephesians 5:5-7

Thus, to sum up, the actions of the person in community constitute the basis of the spiritual depravity in which every community develops its way of proceeding, the new members are indoctrinated and forced to accept their modus operandi.

As we see, the perverse situation of a community is not the result of the “assault” of spiritual forces of evil that burst surprisingly into the locality, it is the interaction of the facts of each one in community that degenerate and becomes the raw material for the construction of its perversity, this is clearly evidenced in the account of the construction of the tower of Babel.

3And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them throughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter. 4 And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth. 5 And the Lord came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded. Genesis 11:3-5

But not everything remains there, the spiritual depravity of a region fosters itself through the facts of supremacy that its inhabitants show in their desire to be better than others; it is an evil that is born in Cain and that the Bible classifies as “iniquity”. This trend affects even all religious circles.

Some impose themselves on others through violence, others through cultivating impiety and injustice; but a great majority do so through ritual practices according to the occult sciences they have developed for this purpose: magic in all its forms, sorcery, witchcraft, spiritism, voodoo, astrology, and other occult sciences, are not alternatives to solve people’s problems, as commonly presented, in its background this type of practices are intended to equip people with perverse tools so that those who exercise them “excel” over their other immediate peers. This is the principle of perversion.

The depravity of the deeds of the inhabitants of a locality are transformed into acts of curse that fall on the land of the region where they are practiced. The book of Leviticus calls it “defilement”, and identifies it as the base of operation of the satanic Principalities and Powers to operate with right in it.

25and the land is defiled: therefore I do visit the iniquity thereof upon it, and the land itself vomiteth out her inhabitants… 27(for all these abominations have the men of the land done, which were before you, and the land is defiled; Leviticus 18:25-27

The prophet Isaiah identifies that a land defiled by the depraved deeds of its inhabitants, is a land that loses its facultative properties of germination,

5 And now go to; I will tell you what I will do to my vineyard: I will take away the hedge thereof, and it shall be eaten up; and break down the wall thereof, and it shall be trodden down: 6and I will lay it waste: it shall not be pruned, nor digged; but there shall come up briers and thorns: I will also command the clouds that they rain no rain upon it. 7For the vineyard of the Lord of hosts is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah his pleasant plant: and he looked for judgment, but behold oppression; for righteousness, but behold a cry. Isaiah 5:5-7

The spiritual depravity of the inhabitants of a region is generally manifested in the detriment of the urban condition in which its inhabitants live; based on the principle that each one seeks or reproduces in his environment what he carries inside, a person who has practiced and accumulated perversity in his actions, will capture in all his social manifestations all the perversity he carries inside.

In the account of the case of demon-possessed Gadarene, we can observe that the possession that a demon exerts upon a person, or upon a place, will be consistent with the perversity to which the person has been exposed, or the perversity he has practiced, according to the personality he has manifested,

26And they arrived at the country of the Gadarenes, which is over against Galilee. 27 And when he went forth to land, there met him out of the city a certain man, which had devils long time, and ware no clothes, neither abode in any house, but in the tombs. Luke 8:26-27

The fact that the possessed Gadarene did not wear clothes, that he did not bathe and that he still lived in the sepulchers, only describes that the Gadarene before falling under the demonic possession, was a person with a violent and destructive character, extremely imposing and intransigent among the community with which he lived; the demons that possessed him simply “enhanced” the first facts that led them to possess him.

The perversity that a person practices and accumulates in his inner being can also be expressed in the physical constructions he develops; hence, through observation, it is easy to determine the type of Principalities and Powers that operate in the place. A visual inspection of the urban conditions of the place allows us to see the condition of its inhabitants.

Everything is captured in a map through what man manufactures in his environment. Wide and well-developed places can also be ways of capturing the perversity of the dwellers. Thus, the architecture of the place, its institutions, its culture, its urbanism, and even its laws, are the “make-up” that covers the impiety and injustice that develops in the place. A building higher than another is only indicating the supremacy of those who live or work in it; a city full of gardens and green areas is indicating that the city has built on deception and lies, and that imagination, fantasy and magic are the raw material of its injustices.

This is the doctrinal basis that makes it possible to understand, and enter, into evangelism and spiritual warfare of areas that manifest to be regions where satanic Principalities and Powers have settled.

Thus, in short, the demonic forces stationed in a place subsist by the acts of perversity of the inhabitants of a region; what remains for us to add is that the demonic forces have cyclic power, and their strength is renewed with the life cycles of the community.

24For a certain man named Demetrius, a silversmith, which made silver shrines for Diana, brought no small gain unto the craftsmen; 25 whom he called together with the workmen of like occupation, and said, Sirs, ye know that by this craft we have our wealth… 27so that not only this our craft is in danger to be set at nought; but also that the temple of the great goddess Diana should be despised, and her magnificence should be destroyed, whom all Asia and the world worshippeth. 28 And when they heard these sayings, they were full of wrath, and cried out, saying, Great is Diana of the Ephesians34 But when they knew that he was a Jew, all with one voice about the space of two hours cried out, Great is Diana of the Ephesians. 35 And when the townclerk had appeased the people, he said, Ye men of Ephesus, what man is there that knoweth not how that the city of the Ephesians is a worshipper of the great goddess Diana, and of the image which fell down from Jupiter? Acts 19:24-35

We do not fight against demonic forces that came from nowhere, we fight against forces of darkness that were summoned, and that subsist in the place because there are those who authorize them to remain in that region.

Faced with this situation, what is the participation of a man and a woman of faith within their community? How does a man and a woman of faith get rid of being influenced by the Principalities and Powers of the place?
